Insurance Law & Compensation — Authoritative Representation Across the UAE

Comprehensive legal support for individuals, corporations, and insurers across all facets of insurance and compensation law — from rejected claims and accident compensation to complex reinsurance disputes.

Deep experience before the UAE Courts, the Insurance Dispute Resolution Committees, and Central Bank of the UAE regulatory processes.

Insurance disputes are rarely straightforward. Policy wording, statutory obligations, regulatory requirements, and court practice all intersect — and the outcome of a claim often depends on how well each of these layers is understood and applied. At ABR Advocates & Legal Consultant, insurance law and compensation is a core practice area, not an afterthought.

Our team advises and represents clients under the UAE's current insurance framework, including Federal Decree-Law No. 6 of 2025 Regarding the Central Bank, Regulation of Financial Institutions and Activities, and Insurance Business (which consolidated the former insurance regime under Federal Decree-Law No. 48 of 2023), the insurance contract provisions of the new UAE Civil Code (Federal Decree-Law No. 25 of 2025, effective 1 June 2026), and the regulations, standards, and codes of conduct issued by the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE).

As both Advocates and Legal Consultants, we combine rights of audience before the UAE Courts with strategic advisory capability. Whether you are an individual seeking fair compensation after an accident or a corporation facing a high-value policy dispute, we provide clear guidance and committed representation at every stage.

Representing claimants, policyholders, and insurers before the UAE Courts and the Insurance Dispute Resolution Committees established under CBUAE supervision.

Advising on policy interpretation, indemnity, and causation principles under the new UAE Civil Code, including the codified indemnity rule and the courts’ expanded powers over compensation assessment.

Handling sensitive statutory compensation matters, including Blood Money (Diya) claims arising from fatal accidents, in coordination with criminal and traffic proceedings.

Advising on Takaful (Islamic insurance) structures, now addressed within a comprehensive framework under the new Civil Code.

Negotiating with insurers to resolve claims efficiently — pursuing litigation where negotiation does not deliver a fair outcome.

Comprehensive insurance & compensation services

Protected before, during, and after a claim

Policy & Coverage

We draft and review insurance policies, endorsements, and coverage terms to ensure clarity and protect our clients’ interests — including conventional policies and Takaful structures. Careful drafting today prevents costly disputes tomorrow.

Disputes & Litigation

We represent policyholders and beneficiaries in disputes against insurers for denial, delay, or undervaluation of claims, and act for insurers defending unmeritorious claims — from the Insurance Dispute Resolution Committees through to the Courts of Cassation.

Regulatory Compliance

We advise insurance companies, brokers, third-party administrators, and businesses on compliance with CBUAE regulations — particularly during the transition under Federal Decree-Law No. 6 of 2025 — as well as DIFC and ADGM requirements.

Claims Management

We guide clients through the entire claims process, from notification and documentation to final settlement — across motor accidents, medical negligence, workplace injuries, property damage, and life and health insurance.

Our core insurance & compensation practice areas

Ten specialised areas of representation

01

Motor & Traffic Accident Compensation

Motor third-party insurance is compulsory in the UAE and the Unified Motor Insurance Policy fixes minimum terms insurers cannot dilute. We help accident victims claim their full legal entitlement rather than settle for less.

02

Personal Injury & Bodily Harm Claims

We pursue full compensation for bodily harm caused by another’s negligence — quantifying medical costs, lost income, and pain and suffering to secure a fair award.

03

Medical Negligence & Malpractice Compensation

Medical liability claims sit at the intersection of the Medical Liability Law, health authority regulation and mandatory malpractice insurance. We build claims through the medical liability committee process and the courts.

04

Insurance Claim Disputes & Rejected Claims

Insurers must give reasons for denying a claim — and those reasons can be tested. We challenge rejected and undervalued claims through negotiation, the Insurance Dispute Resolution Committees, and the UAE Courts.

05

Workplace Injury & Employee Compensation

We advise on the interplay between statutory work-injury compensation under UAE Labour Law and civil claims where negligence exceeds the statutory scheme — two distinct routes many injured workers don’t realise exist.

06

Blood Money (Diya) & Death Compensation

A sensitive, high-stakes area combining Sharia-based Diya with civil compensation for material and moral harm. We provide compassionate, culturally aware representation for families navigating criminal, estate and insurance matters together.

Ask a question
Do not accept the rejection at face value. Insurers must give reasons for a denial, and those reasons can be legally tested. The first step is to have a lawyer review your policy wording, the rejection letter, and the claim file. Depending on the circumstances, your claim may be pursued through direct negotiation, a complaint through CBUAE channels, the Insurance Dispute Resolution Committees, or the UAE Courts. Strict timelines can apply, so early legal advice is essential.
The new Civil Code (Federal Decree-Law No. 25 of 2025), effective from 1 June 2026, restates and clarifies core insurance principles — including the rule that an insurer compensates only for damage actually resulting from the insured risk, within the policy value. It also gives courts new powers in compensation matters, including the ability to review instalment or annuity awards where circumstances change, and introduces a comprehensive framework for Takaful insurance. How these provisions apply to your claim depends on your policy, the date of the events, and the transitional rules — our team can assess this for you.
Our role combines advocacy and consultancy. We interpret your policy, quantify your losses, correspond and negotiate with the insurer, represent you before the Insurance Dispute Resolution Committees and the UAE Courts where necessary, and advise on regulatory aspects where the CBUAE is involved. For corporate clients, we also draft and review policies, advise on compliance, and manage reinsurance and coverage disputes.
Limitation periods in insurance and compensation matters can be short, and different periods apply depending on the nature of the claim and the underlying events. Missing a deadline can extinguish an otherwise strong claim. If you believe you have a claim, seek legal advice as early as possible so the applicable time limits can be identified and protected.
Yes. We act for policyholders, beneficiaries, insurers, brokers, and reinsurers — always subject to strict conflict-of-interest checks. This dual perspective strengthens our advocacy: we understand how both sides approach a dispute.
