Insurers must give reasons for denying a claim — and those reasons can be tested. We challenge rejected and undervalued claims through negotiation, the Insurance Dispute Resolution Committees, and the UAE Courts.
A rejection letter is not the end of your claim. Policyholders in the UAE have real, enforceable rights: insurers are regulated by the Central Bank of the UAE, bound by codes of conduct on claims handling, and required to honour the policy as written and as the law interprets it. Under the framework consolidated by Federal Decree-Law No. 6 of 2025, the CBUAE supervises market conduct, claims handling, and consumer protection — and rejection decisions can be challenged.
Common rejection grounds — alleged non-disclosure, policy exclusions, late notification, or disputed causation — frequently do not withstand scrutiny. The new Civil Code’s insurance provisions, including the codified indemnity principle, cut both ways: they protect insurers against exaggerated claims, but they equally confirm the insured’s right to be compensated for damage actually resulting from the insured risk. The dispute route typically runs from a formal challenge to the insurer, through the specialised Insurance Dispute Resolution Committees operating under CBUAE supervision, and onward to the UAE Courts if needed. Strict timelines apply at each stage.
