Debts do not respect borders — debtors relocate, assets move, and contracts span jurisdictions. Cross-border recovery is about bringing the claim to where it can succeed: enforcing a foreign judgment or arbitral award against assets in the UAE, or pursuing a debtor abroad from a UAE starting point, with each step coordinated toward actual payment.
Foreign arbitral awards are enforced in the UAE under the New York Convention. Foreign court judgments are enforced under the Civil Procedure Law’s recognition provisions and the treaties the UAE has joined — including regional conventions and bilateral arrangements — with the route and requirements depending on the country of origin. Inbound or outbound, the sequencing matters: where you sue, where you enforce, and where the assets are must line up.
Inbound: acting for foreign creditors to recognise and enforce their judgments and awards against UAE assets, and to pursue UAE-based debtors directly.
Outbound: acting for UAE creditors whose debtors or assets sit abroad, coordinating qualified counsel in the target jurisdiction.
Strategy: aligning jurisdiction, governing law and enforcement targets before costs are sunk in the wrong forum.
