Recognition, Enforcement & Annulment of Awards

An award is only as good as its enforcement. Winning the arbitration is half the work; converting the award into money — or resisting an unfounded award made against you — is the other half, and it is where UAE-specific experience matters most. We act on the full post-award spectrum: ratification, enforcement, and annulment.

The framework

Domestic (UAE-seated) awards are ratified and enforced through the competent UAE court under the Arbitration Law, which confines challenges to limited grounds — such as an invalid arbitration agreement, defective constitution of the tribunal, or a breach of due process — within strict time limits. Foreign awards are recognised and enforced under the New York Convention, to which the UAE is a party, subject only to the Convention’s narrow refusal grounds. Awards seated in the DIFC or ADGM follow those jurisdictions’ routes, with established pathways onward into onshore execution.

How we help

Ratification and enforcement of domestic awards, through to execution against the debtor’s assets.

Foreign award enforcement under the New York Convention before the UAE courts.

Annulment proceedings — pursuing set-aside where genuine grounds exist, and defending awards against tactical challenges.

Enforcement strategy from day one — because the strongest enforcement position is built during the arbitration, not after it.
